11 reasons to love fifa 11 to counter a thread I saw about 10 things to hate about Fifa 11, Let me start by saying all of the below is based on my personal opinion, feel free to constructively disagree.
1.
Ping Pong passing is obsolete! Despite many opinions on this forum suggesting that it’s still there when Power Assistance is switched off this is complete fiction, if you play fifa 10 you can simply tap pass on the counter and within 3 passes you’re through on goal! I think some people expect EA to completely remove the possibility to 1 touch pass which is ridiculous! you cant blindly tap pass on F11 you need to use the radar and the correct amount of power, you still have to apply the correct power to some degree with the assist on If someone cuts through your defence with 1 touch pass on Fifa 11 it’s because their either skilled or you hold pressure way too much.
2.
Passing is more realistic On Fifa 10 slightly more frustrating then Ping-Pong passing was the ability to execute a pass accurately from anywhere even if your player was facing the wrong direction he could swivel his foot 90 degrees to a player 30 yards behind him with a simple tap of the X button – try that now!
3.
Goal Keepers stay put! If I had a pound for everytime my goalkeeper was lobbed on Fifa 10 I would have had enough money to buy the annual Fifa game for the next 4 decades!! It’s a challenge to lob now, as it is in real football.
4.
Finesse shots are harder to pull off To pull of a long rang finesse shot is much more tricky now unlike Fifa 10 where they were the norm.
5.
Attackers now actually respond to crosses in the box Allot has been said about the simplicity in which you can now score with headers, this is much more realistic as in real football teams get punished for allowing crosses to come into the box! I am yet to concede a goal through a cross in open play on Fifa 11 due to the fact I don’t let the crosses come in, in the first place.
6.
Sprinting is more realistic! IMO sprinting is realistic in Fifa 11, in real football players do not run about like headless chickens, In Fifa 11 I can sprint away from defenders with ease using Bale or Lennon but only once I’ve created space using a trick or a clever ½ pass, exactly how it is in real football.
7.
The midfield has become relevant again! In real football the midfield is by far the most important part of the pitch this is perfectly replicated in Fifa 11 play a 451 formation against a 442 and you will dominate midfield and ultimately the game, unlike fifa 10 where we were all used to seeing 604 formations ruin the game, please try playing 604 now!
8.
Soundtrack The songs you hear in the menu’s and pause screens are spot on! Really suit the game and on top of that you have an option of customizing them.
9.
Be a goalkeeper OK so it wasn’t really for me to be honest but a very clever and pioneering idea so credit where credit is due, and the fact that you take it in turns to be the keeper and attacker in the arena on local multiplayer loading is great.
10.
Commentary Ai One thing I noticed while playing Career mode is when my striker Edin Dzeko got suspended the previous match, the commentary team actually mentioned that he was suspended and that he was my top scorer and I’d miss his goals – that was a nice touch!
11.
Half you lot don’t know you’re born! I’m 27 years old and since I’ve been playing computer games I’ve gone through Fifa 95 – 11, PES series, Adidas Power Soccer, Sensi, ISS, hell even World Cup Italia 90 lol and I have an appreciation on how far football games have evolved, allot of the people on this forum are spoilt brats who picked up football games at Fifa 08 and litter this forum moaning about Ref’s running funny, The ball hitting the post not sounding right, dodgy looking fans etc etc! Believe me us as the football loving gamer have never had it so good, and never has a football game looked so polished, I’ll admit I have some gripes about the game and a few bugs here and there but the game gets less frustrating with every match I play because im getting better at it, this is not Fifa 10 so why play it like it is? Well Done EA FIFA 11 is great, keep up the good work cant wait for Fifa 12

At last, a properly constructed well versed post!!
so many young kids on here moan about completely trivial things such as the premier league badge on chelseas arm not being gold, or the net doesnt ripple enough when the wind blows.....
Im 31, so even older and wiser in terms of footy games than the OP, and whilst no game is ever going to be perfect (if it was then the software dev team should just hang up their boots) FIFA 11 is pretty bloody good!
it makes me laugh some of the comments on here threatening EA to watchdog, saying the games not fit for purpose etc etc, get a life and stop spending all your time on forums moaning and being negative, if you dont like the game, trade it in for PES 11, if you dont like that dig an old C64 out and play kick off, then see how much you have to complain about!!!

In no order
1. All manual play is superb, more contextual stat based and intuitive
2. Shooting is fantastic and there is so much variation, the best shooting system on a football game
3. Sounds effects, the crowd are excellent and react accordingly, really adds to the immersion and feels very realistic
4. Heading is no longer broken, if you deliver an accurate cross a goal is possible
5. Although some infuriating bugs CM finally has some depth and soul
6. Graphics and pitches finally improved, makes the game a more realistic and authentic experience
7. Being able to edit the nets and have some variation
8. Custom tactics make a big difference to AI and your own play
9. Not every game feels the same like fifa 10
10. Better player individuality, this makes me think more about signings in CM and tactics become more crucial to get the best out of your squad
11. I am playing without the patch on slow speed setting and the speed is excellent, you can dictate the pace yourself and every league feels different.|||

Two terrific posts. I'm a little older than both of you and work in IT so really appreciate the effort involved in making games like this. I also remember the really basic games in the past.
If I am critical it's releasing games without adequate testing. It looks like a third patch is likely sometime soon and the game has only been on release for a week. Poor QA and I suspect that UT will suffer from the same issues due to a rush to market. It would also have been nice to have an entirely new commentary this year but that's a minor niggle.,
What does make me laugh are fools complaining about hairstyles, socks, boots, eye shadow, painted fingernails and the like! These guys really need to get a grip.|||

Good post. FIFA '11 is by the far the most realistic football game yet. Its nice to highlight the positives for once.
The online real issue I see, is the Online Clubs (which is seemingly being addressed), lag, not getting the win when the other teams quits.
The rest I can live with. There are more important things than leaderboards, etc.|||Whatever you say guys about what games were like back in 1870BC, of course this will be better.
However you can slate people for moaning about stuff and I am sure if you went round the forum you would find 111 things to slate FIFA11 not just 11.
Very disappointed this year and I am not alone by a long way.|||

that's it :)|||My 10
1. Pro passing (need i say more? :))
2. Shooting animations does have more variations, especially volleys
3. Finally Heading works now, i mean in a realistic rate based on how good your crosses are
4. Sounds & Atmosphere finally fixed! no dead crowds.
5. Surprised to see CM still being improved.. but good touch nonetheless, finally enjoying CM/MM for the first time ever.
6. Variable nets, and better graphics and custom sounds tracks/chants is just plain awesome. :)
7. Custom tactics is obviously a very good feature for offline, that is.
8. Be a GK is a nice touch, good to see players actually wanting to be GK (though some of them mess up the match)
9. Penalty system actually need to scores with a cool head.. (good idea in the power par thing..)
10. Rest animations like passing has been slightly overhaul, really good and every match feels different.. :)|||

I was waiting for this comment...go and trade it in....don't play it then if you don't like it....go and play PES blah blah blah.
I'm seriously happy for you guys if you love it, fair play. To be honest tho, I seriously think you are in the minority this year.|||Sorry double post|||

Don't think so, everyone I've spoken to love the game. The only place where there is so much negativity is on this forum.|||I had 2 top games last night online with my mate, 4-4 then 4-3 ( :) ), granted it does need a patch or 2 iron out nigles but I have never on any FIFA game experienced the frantic goal scrambles i had last night.
Still would like to see more advanced AI in the defence, marking and positioning etc but overall a massive step up from 10 and WC :)

Exactly, when the patch does come out and fixes some minor bugs and off course the online stuff, then you'll see it's the best fifa installment yet..|||You hit the nail on the head stop playing the game like FIFA 10 when you do this the game is brilliant
Though i would say i am 47 and i was one of the complainers last year of FIFA 10 but then sold it soon after buying it, if anyone hates the game that much do the same and buy something else and enjoy :)
